You already know if the company you're marketing shares a location with other businesses in the same industry. Find a competitor's address and zoom in on the map to see if there are other businesses in the same industry at that location. This is important because businesses in the same category at the same address may be filtered out by Google. This behavior has been particularly noticeable since the 2016 Possum update. It’s important to understand that if the brand you’re marketing is in a shared space with another brand in the same category, and you can’t see your business on a local Finder map unless you zoom in, then Possum may be the culprit.
Next, check the environment a few blocks around both businesses to see if there are other businesses on the map that fall into the same category and make a note of that, as filtering sometimes happens in this case as well.
